People have demanded that the authorities link water supply and load-shedding schedule. They complained about facing water shortage due to clash between power outages and water supply timings.
Residents from a number of areas told the APP that Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) staff deputed at water supply stations open the supply valves when there is no electricity.
Ashir Bhatti, a resident of Mohalla Raja Sultan, said the neighbourhood has not received supply for the last two days. Resident demanded regular water supply in the residential areas.
WASA Managing Director Raja Shaukat Mehmmood said load-shedding is disturbing timetable for tube-wells. He said the agency has decided to employ operators round-the-clock for the tube-wells and has also arranged generators to cope with unscheduled load shedding.
He said water level at the reservoirs is satisfactory. Mehmood said Khanpur Dam supplies six million gallons of water daily to Rawalpindi while Rawal Lake supplies 10 million gallons of water every day to the city.
In addition, WASA distributes 32 million gallons of water through 323 tube-wells every day, he added.
