KARACHI:
Habib University brought together a group of panelists to give the students, their parents and school counsellors a clear picture of career prospects today and tomorrow.

The event, titled ‘Shaping Futures, Crafting Careers Seminar’ was held at the university campus in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Thursday. It explored the professional landscape in Pakistan and the value of an interdisciplinary liberal arts educational experience for successful careers in the job market. The panelists included Indus Motors CEO Pervaiz Ghais, Zaeem Arshad who is the division head of Rapidcompute, a pioneer in cloud computing in Pakistan, Technologix CEO and founder Salman Akhtar and others.

According to the panelists, the focus of the job market is rapidly shifting to students who are critical thinkers and are creative enough to adapt to multiple scenarios and circumstances.

The guests were able to interact with the panelists and Habib University’s faculty through a question-and-answer session. The panel discussion was followed by breakout sessions to discuss opportunities and trends in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, communication studies, media, social development and policy. The programme concluded with a tour of the campus.

“The idea behind Habib University was to create a space to engage and inspire people,” said Habib University president Wasif Rizvi. “This event highlights our commitment to provide our students with the finest learning experiences and prepare them for successful careers in Pakistan and abroad.”
