Former president Pervez Musharraf is likely to submit an application on Friday (today) requesting the interior ministry to lift the travel ban imposed on him at the earliest.
Musharraf’s Islamabad based counsel Chaudhry Faisal Hussain told The Express Tribune that he had received a letter from the former president that will be submitted to the interior secretary’s office seeking permission to leave the country in view of the SHC’s judgment.
“Fair play demands that the government may permit me to travel abroad, considering that my mother is seriously ill in the UAE and her condition is deteriorating,” the letter states.
“The doctors have confirmed that the fracture in my own backbone is not treatable in Pakistan,” Musharraf said in the letter.
The letter also states that the SHC order has been self-executory in nature and its operation has been suspended for 15 days.

@Zain: It hurts really .... hahahaha. Actually facts are facts whether you like them or not.
Musarraf is being hated because he conducted Red star operation . Maderssa mentality will never digest his save pakistan move. They are still suporting jehadees as per their virsion of jehaad that is why terrorists activity is on in the country and abroad . Carrot and stick policy will continue in comming years against them . There is no use to preach them .
@Zain what would you expect from a man serving armed forces than to fight and defend the country. This is what he is paid for. Unfortunately armed forces in Pakistan has become a mini Pakistan in Pakistan, just visit any cantonment area and you will see the difference. Political turmoil made the ruler of this mini Pakistan and all institutions of Pakistan including politicians corrupt. Poor people of Pakistan are suffering while elites of both Pakistan are enjoying their lives lavishly.
@ Umar
First of all go and get some education on manners and ethics around how to speak to others. I am sorry I cannot communicate in the language you prefer to use. Your ignorance is taking over your sentiments.
@Aly Shah
I am not surprised by the number of people liking @sterry comments; I would much rather like to bite my tongue. Let me give you a starting point to brainstorm, maybe it's the bandwagon effect?
Yes I support Musharaff and I have numerous reasons for that, let me enlighten you with few:
1) He fought for Pakistan twice; how many politicians have actually risked their lives? 2) He was the first person who actually signed first IT policy of Pakistan and worked on various IT hubs and initiatives; how many politicians can even read a strategy? 3) Current government has tried multiple times to prove cases which never had any standing; was he found guilty? 4) Development work: stable emergency services in hospital across punjab at least(not sure about other states) and ambulance and fire services that people can really trust on 5)He was the only leader who actually cared about KASHMIR; what is current government doing? 6) Please go and read stats of Pakistan during his tenure about GDP, education, crime and unemployment.
I can go on and on. Please wear a hat of wisdom and maybe this enough for your to actually go and read things before you comment?
Human consideration says that he should be allowed to visit his ailing mother. Keeping the past in view, the question arises, does he deserve it? Remember he never allowed Nawaz and his family to participate in the funeral of his father. I am not follower of Nawaz either, but Musharaf has a past which he should be held accountable. I dont think he will return to Pakistan once he is gone, at least not as long as the current political scenario
I think mushi has already proved to be a commando remember when comes back it was NS was likely to be in power and with aid of CJ as it ultimately happen he is one brave person facing the music since than. Commando or no Commando after all he is son and a human being and what he done for Pakistan may be consider as he may done wrongs but rights were also there.
Everyone has the right to dream; some would like to go back to the source of their origin. No other than Mother is the only one to provide consolation. Your time is up General.

@Zain: oh you r pet of Musharraf - it might be you and Kasori whom he was carrying in his arms in one of his photograph
@tanvir: some animals are making noise and intelligent people keep working. I hope you might be this much intelligent to understand. But unfortunately I know my these comments will not be read by you and others like you because of ET
As a poster boy for the Pakistan army and especially the commandos Musharraf cuts a sorry figure.
@Zain, its a free forum and everyone has an opinion you should explain yours instead of dissing others. and his comments has more likes then your mere two evident enough whose talking sense here.
enough people have been killed under his regime by the Army, why should the law be any different for a general then an ordinary civilian. Govt should not allow him to travel abroad, he is missing a back bone since 2001.. when he let US use our territory for invasion and we are still living in the repercussions of that very lame decision. Musharraf should be tried and rot in jails of Pakistan so there re no fancy interventions from Army in future.
@sterry
First of all it's quite evident that you've no knowledge whatsoever on the subject matter.
Please come with some facts, so we can have a rational discussion.
For future reference, maybe avoid commenting on something you don't have much knowledge on? It might be extremely annoying for others for various reasons.
So that is why GEO was suspended. It seems all the other channels have agreed to keep mum about Musharraf. Musharraf is a criminal, he should not be allowed to leave the country before he is tried for his crimes in court.
The question is will he ever return back !
Nawaz Sharif is a vile contemptuous man.
@sterry: Pak economy was always better under General and so was security and corruption. Loans were paid back. $30 billion loan was added by Naseebo likers and tweeter superman
@sterry: Do u even know the correct definition of Dictator? Being a Military person does make one a Dictator.
commando.......big LOL
The time has come when this usurper knows where the real power resides, with the people. He should have written The Runaway Commando instead of General (Retired). Government should allow him to leave because he might start crying if he is not allowed to.
Interior Ministry should allow General (retired) Pervaiz Musharraf to fly abroad on the basis of Judgment of Honorable Sindh High Court. SHC clearly mentioned in their judgment that his name be removed from ECL. If Government stubborn to carry on high treason suit then their Govt would be in hazard, and we the public how long bear his huge security expenditure. People of Pakistan in majority chosen the PML(N) with the mandate that they should work for prosper, stable and peaceful Pakistan instead of getting revenge.
Seems like ET is becoming a mouthpiece of Musharraf?
A black day for Pakistan. If a dictator can take over illegally and run away whenever he wants, what message does it send to next would be dictators?
He broke his back while a Pakistani Army commando. He should be allowed to get medical attention wherever he wants to get this fixed. I advise the current political government of Nawaz Sharif to not drag this foolish vendetta against Musharraf any longer.
