No reprieve: Interim bail cancelled in gas theft case

The court cancelled the interim bail granted to the accused.

LAHORE:
Justice Muhammad Kazim Raza Shamsi of the Lahore High Court on Wednesday cancelled the interim bail of a factory owner accused of stealing gas worth Rs200 million. Earlier, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited’s counsel, Umar Sharif, told the court that Sajjad Malik, owner of Pak Land Textile Mills, in Housing Colony, Sheikhupura, had been stealing gas for his factory through an illegal connection from the main gas pipeline for several years. He said the department had evidence of the theft as well. He requested the court to cancel Malik’s interim bail. Malik’s counsel said that his client was innocent. The court cancelled the interim bail granted to the accused.
