Fake documents: Man forging academic diplomas arrested

Sohail told police that he bought special paper for the certificates and had accomplices in various cities.

South Cantt police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a man accused of forging matriculation and FA certificates. Police said they had confiscated fake certificates, stamps, computer and other items the man used to forge certificates with.

South Cantt SHO Muhammad Shabbir Awan said they had received information that Muhammad Sohail was operating a racket of forging educational degrees. SHO Awan said initial interrogations had revealed that he had forged hundreds of fake certificates for people applying to jobs abroad. Police said Sohail charged Rs40,000 for an FA and Rs30,000 for a matric certificate. Police said the suspects also had counterfeit stamps. Sohail told police that he bought special paper for the certificates and had accomplices in various cities.
