LAHORE:

The health secretary on Monday constituted a new board of management for Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC).

The new members include Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan, Safdar Javed Syed, Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Shahzad Saleem and Afzal Bhatti.

Young Doctors’ Association-Punjab (YDA) spokesman Amir Bandesha said the major task the board faced was to ensure that the large number of patients visiting the PIC were all accommodated.

“The emergency department is under a lot of burden. The number of doctors is far less than needed to cater to patients. The new board will have to look into it,” he said.
