KARACHI:

The provincial information minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, has criticised the federal government's decision to discard development projects in Sindh, saying that the government only considers Lahore as Pakistan.

He was addressing a press conference at the office of the Sindh Archives department on Saturday. In his address, Memon said that the federal government was only carrying out development projects in Lahore and was neglecting the rural areas of Punjab and other provinces.

"The federal government had discontinued important development projects of Sindh, including the Thar coal project, Lyari Expressway, S-3 project and the Karachi Circular Railway," he revealed. "This is one of the worst examples of political victimisation against Sindh." Memon said it was ironic that the federal government was providing financial support for the ongoing targeted operation but could not provide funding for the development schemes. "We are not against democracy and extend all support to the federal government's decisions, but they should also consider the implications of their actions."

Memon stressed that the conspirators against the PML-N government were not supporters of the Pakistan Peoples Party. He was of the opinion, however, that the former's own policies were going against them. He demanded the government to reconsider its decision and provide funding for the development projects in Sindh.
