Windstorm: Six injured in ceiling collapse
RAWALPINDI:
Six children were injured after ceiling of a room of a tuition centre collapsed in the Humak Model Town on Friday. Some 35 children were taking classes in other rooms at the time. “When the rain started, their teacher told them to take shelter in the room on the second flood. As they entered the room, its roof collapsed after a wall of the neighbouring house fell on it,” said Muhammad Yasin, an onlooker. “I heard the children screaming and rushed to the second floor where I found children trapped under the debris,” he added. People from the neighbourhood gathered at the scene and called up the Rescue 1122. However, by the time the rescue reams arrived the crowd has cleared the debris and rescued all the children. The injured included Zain, Ali, Sakina (teacher), Tariq, Ujala, and Sumbal. They were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital. Doctors say two boys, Zain and Tariq, are in serious conditions while the rest are out of danger.
