Violence continues: Two men killed by unknown suspects — four killed in encounters

KARACHI: Six people including a policeman were killed in different incidents of violence and encounters on Thursday.

A 55-year-old man, Muhammad Pervaiz Abbasi, son of Ryaz, was shot dead by two unidentified armed motorcyclists at Ranchore Line. Eidgah police said that the victim was a police official and an eyewitness in the Arshad Pappu murder case and had submitted an application for protection due to security threats. Abbasi’s body was moved to Civil hospital for a post-mortem.

In another incident of violence, two unidentified assailants opened fire at a meat shop, injuring two brothers, Farhan and Sabir Qureshi, in the process. The incident took place within the limits of the Jamshed Quarter police station at Jamshed Quarter No. 3. However, Farhan breathed his last at the hospital. The police added that the incident took place due to the meat shop’s refusal to pay extortion. Farhan’s body was later moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.

In another incident, the police found a 15-day-old decomposed body of an unidentified man within the limits of the Surjani Town police station at Sector 50-C near Jan Jamali goth. The police said that the body was sent to the Edhi mortuary for identification after the completion of a post-mortem.

Police encounters

The Anti-Violence and Crime Cell of the Sindh police killed two gangsters during an alleged encounter near Sachal on Thursday. The police said that the encounter took place near Super Highway, adding that the victims, 28-year-old Babar Khan and Adil Khan, were brothers and were wanted in several criminal cases.  The police added that during the encounter, weapons were also seized from their possession. The bodies were later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortems.

Meanwhile, the police also claimed to have killed two unidentified street criminals during an encounter near Gulistan-e-Jauhar, who were caught red-handed.
