Racing away: Traffic police get six new motorcycles

We received the bikes a few weeks back. They were waiting for hooters and traffic police boxes to be attached to them.

After a seven-year wait, the city traffic police got a new fleet of heavy motorcyclesfor the motorcades of important personalities.


Six Suzuki Bandit motorcycles are parked at the DIG traffic police office located inside the Police Headquarter at Garden. "Due to increased security threats, we have needed new motorcycles for a while now," said an official of the traffic police privy to the matter. "We received the bikes a few weeks back. They were waiting for hooters and traffic police boxes to be attached to them. Now they are ready to be used."


 "The motorcycles have 650cc engines and are therefore very fast," he said. After the acquisition of the new motorcycles, the traffic police now have a total of 14 motorcycles for VIP movement and other special occasions.


"Our current motorcycles are old and often break down, which is why we had to order the new motorcycles," said Karachi Traffic DIG Arif Hanif.
