A teenage girl was gunned down in a remote village of Torghar by her brother in the name of honour. Her alleged lover was also reportedly shot dead in Karachi.


According to residents of Kooza Dairay village, 14-year-old Sajida was allegedly having an affair with another villager Anwarzeb who was working as a rickshaw driver in Karachi.


A few months ago, Anwar married another girl but he allegedly did not sever relations with Sajida.

Villagers said the affair became public a few days ago and in order to save the family’s honour, Sajida’s brother Kakani Khan shot her dead. As per tribal customs, Anwar was also shot dead in Qasba Colony, Karachi reportedly on the same day, villagers claim. However, DPO Torghar Iftikharud Din denied the reports of the murders.

On Sunday, two pregnant women were killed in Mardan by two brothers over ‘honour’.
