ISLAMABAD:

Federal Education Minister Balighur-Rehman said on Thursday that education plays a pivotal role in the development of any society.

While chairing a meeting of the advisory committee of the ministry of education here on Thursday, he said that the state of education in Pakistan was not up to the mark, as according to him Pakistan had the second highest number of out-of-school children.

The minister told the participants that though the situation of tertiary education was better than that of primary and secondary education, it was far from satisfactory as only 7.5 per cent of the total children have access to it.

He divided the advisory committee into sub-committees tasking the members with different assignment according to their expertise and experiences.
