Torrential rain: Flood warning in DG Khan tribal areas

Border military police, district police and the Baloch Levies have been issued a red alert in the wake of floods and hill torrents in the tribal area of Dera Ghazi Khan.


The emergency notification was issued after torrential rain on the Koh-i-Suleman mountain range caused flash-floods in the tribal area and some parts of Taunsa.

The Hill Torrents Flood Control Centre has confirmed that 70,000 cusecs of water had accumulated in several rural settlements including Nutkani, Kotani, Jalowaali and 10 other villages.

Border Military Police Commandant Shahid Mehboob said they were on red alert for possible emergency.

“We are in complete coordination with flood control centres and the district administration...so far the situation is under control.” There has been torrential rainfall in these areas for a week, he said.
