LPG import prices surge by Rs12,000

Saudi Aramco contract price (CP) climbed by $93 to touch $788 in the international market.

KARACHI:
The price of imported liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has surged by Rs12,000 per ton to hit an all-time record high of Rs95,000 per ton as the Saudi Aramco contract price (CP) climbed by $93 to touch $788 in the international market.

This was stated by the chairman of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FPCCI) standing committee on LPG and of the All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association Hadi Khan on Monday.

He noted that importers have not raised retail prices and urged the government to ensure that local producers not increase the price of locally produced LPG in proportion with Saudi Aramco.

He also urged the government to remove sales tax on the import of LPG to ensure that prices do not increase further.

Hadi pointed to a gap of 500 tons per day between the demand and supply of LPG.
