Abduction: Newborn baby kidnapped from Sukkur hospital

A newborn boy was kidnapped from the Civil Hospital, Sukkur, on Monday. The boy was one of the twins born on Sunday night.

A resident of Sangi village, Hayatan, wife of Allaudin Jatoi, gave birth to the twins at Civil hospital. A few hours later, a woman came into the female ward and took away one of the baby boys, saying that she will bring him back after a vaccination but she never returned.

Hayatan told the media that the woman identified herself as Aasma, alias Reshma, and that she was present in the ward since Sunday night. “She told me in the morning that all the newborn babies are being vaccinated and I should give her my baby,” she said. When Aasma did not return for a long time, Hayatan complained to the hospital authorities but, she claimed, they did not pay any attention. The medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Jawaid Shaikh, was unavailable for comments and his assistance kept insisting the doctor was busy in a meeting.
