
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) and Anti-Car lifting Cell (ACLC) of the Islamabad Police on Sunday busted a carjackers gang and arrested seven suspects allegedly involved in motorcycle theft.
The police recovered six motorcycles and four pistols with ammunition from their possession, a police spokesman said.
The suspects arrested by the special police team were identified as Muhammad Ali, Muhammad Nazir, Muhammad Rizwan, Haseeb Mehmood, Sufian Waris, Ali Raza and Zulfiqar Ali.
All the suspects are residents of different areas of Islamabad and were wanted to police in several criminal cases.
Superintendent of Police (SP) investigation Jamil Ahmad Hashmi said police have recovered six stolen motorcycles and four pistols on the basis of information elicited from the suspects.
Hashmi said one of the motorcycles was stolen from the Sabzi Mandi area, one from within the jurisdiction of the Secretariat police station and one from the Ramna area on the western edge of the capital.
Police claimed the seven men have confessed to their involvement in motorcycle theft from various areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Further investigation is underway.
