Post 2014 scenario: UNODC fears spike in poppy cultivation

UNODC warns of possible spread of poppy cultivation in Balochistan after withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan.

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Pakistan (UNODC) has warned of a possible spread of poppy cultivation in Balochistan after the withdrawal of Nato forces from Afghanistan. UNODC representative Cesar Guedes on Wednesday urged Balochistan CM Dr Abdul Malik Baloch to keep a check on poppy cultivation. Dr Abdul Malik said the provincial government was taking strict steps for eradication of drugs smuggling.
