KARACHI: Pitanbar Sehwani, Pakistan Peoples Party’s minority MPA, is among the 14 legislators who have been summoned by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) over fake degrees Monday (today).

Sehwani told The Express Tribune on Sunday that the ECP issued him a letter a few days ago that his Intermediate degree had been declared fake by the Hyderabad board. He said that his degree was genuine and he had challenged the ECP and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad in the Sindh High Court.

According to his school record, his original name was “Was Dev alias Pitanbar Sehwani”, but he is commonly known by his nickname. “Since I am familiar in political circles as Pitanbar Sehwani, therefore I applied and had my name changed.”

The ECP has issued notices to the Higher Education Commission and board office. Later the board and University of Sindh issued him his HSC, BA and MA certificates as well. He said that he was in Islamabad to clarify the matter.
