K-P deputy speaker’s brother arrested for alleged rape in Kohat

KOHAT:
Following directions from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, the brother of K-P assembly deputy speaker was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a woman in Kohat.

SHO Shakar Darra police Afzal Khan said on Wednesday morning, a 26-year-old woman identified as Farahnaz* had filed an FIR wherein she accused Safdar Qureshi of raping her.

She claimed her family members were working in the fields to harvest the wheat crop when the accused along with an accomplice, Asmatullah, allegedly barged into her house and raped her.

“They beat me up first and then raped me,” she told the police.


Qureshi is the brother of K-P Assembly Deputy Speaker Imtiaz Qureshi.

SHO Khan said that a case was filed under sections 376, 452 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code and they launched a search for the arrest of the accused.

A police official said after the chief minister issued directions, the police had arrested Safdar on Thursday while further investigations were under way.
