ISLAMABAD:
Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday issued notices to Pakistan Cricket Board patron-in-chief and other top officials on a petition filed by a former chief selector.
Justice Noorul Haq Qureshi issued notices to secretary Pakistan Sports Board, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is Patron-in-Chief of the PCB, its Interim Management Committee Chairman Najam Sethi, and members directing them to submit their replies in two weeks.
The petition has been filed by former Chief Selector Muhammad Ilyas challenging his removal, dissolution of the PCB governing body and appointment of Sethi as interim chairman of the board.
Sethi had removed Ilyas on February 13 after 26 days of his appointment as chief selector.
The counsel for the petitioner requested the court to order reinstatement of his client as he was removed illegally.
Ilyas was appointed as chief selector of the cricket board on January 18, 2014. Before that he served as a member selection committee during the tenure of former chairman Zaka Ashraf.
The petitioner also requested the court to declare illegal an order issued by Patron-in-chief dissolving PCB’s governing board.
