Attack On Journalist: Judicial commission starts proceedings

Supreme Court’s Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali is the president of the commission.

KARACHI: The commission formed to inquire into the incident of firing on the Geo television’s anchor Hamid Mir commenced its proceedings on Monday at the Supreme Court’s Registry branch in Karachi.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had announced a judicial inquiry into the incident and subsequently the interior ministry constituted the commission comprising three judges of the apex court.

Supreme Court’s Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali is the president of the commission, which also comprises of Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman.

During the first day of proceedings, , IG Sindh police, AIG Karachi, DG Sindh Rangers and top officials of Intelligence Bureau and Special Branch filed their respective reports before the commission.
