RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) welcomed the proposal for collecting single digit General Sales Tax (GST) which in turn would offer relief to the common man. President RCCI Shimail Daud Arain observed that the fresh approach of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on the collection of GST is highly appreciable which, if implemented, would be welcomed by both the business community and the general populace. He said that the step would considerably curtail the tax percentage thus enlarging the tax net. With the inclusion of fresh tax payers, the gap between tax revenue and tax percentage would be plugged, he added. Arain also pointed out that fresh legislation to check rampant trends of tax evasion was the need of the hour to bring all those well-to-do in the tax net without any discrimination.
