Government College of Technology professor shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Unidentified men opened fire at a car in the Gharibabad area of Karachi, leaving one person dead and another injured, Express News reported on Monday.

The deceased was identified as Professor Saifuddin of Government College of Technology.

The incident occurred near the Gharibabad Underpass and the injured was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical assistance.

Previous incidents in Karachi

On February 17, the head of pathology department of Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), Dr Javed Iqbal Kazi, was shot dead in broad daylight and his driver had suffered injuries in a targeted attack in North Nazimabad.

The tall and soft-spoken doctor was a staunch academician in technique and manner and he had been appointed by the University of Karachi as the dean of medicine for its eight affiliated medical colleges.

On November 19 last year, unidentified men had shot the University of Gujrat’s director of student services and his driver dead in an apparent incident of targeted killing. According to university officials, Prof Shabeer had been receiving threats for some time.

More than anyone else, it is MQM's responsibility, as the reps of Karachi (good or bad) to set up investigative teams who can investigate, unearth and bring to open these elements out to snatch away the educational advantage Karachi and Karachiites once possessed.
