QUETTA: Three people, two relatives and a cobbler were shot dead, while two others were wounded after their Land Cruiser was attacked by unknown assailants near Munir Mengal Chowk on Saryab Road.

There were four assailants armed with Small Machine Guns (SMG), who open fired at the Land Cruiser.

“Two persons sitting inside the car and a cobbler near roadside sustained multiple bullet wounds and died on the spot while a passer-by was wounded,” SSP Saryab Mohammed Jaffar told The Express Tribune.

The attackers escaped after committing the crime. The bodies and injured were transported to Provincial Sandeman Hospital. The deceased were identified as 24-year-old Mira Jan Achakzai, 23-year-old Ahmed Jan—both were relatives and Khuhsal Khan, a cobbler.

“The assailants used SMG which is uncommon in organised targeted killings. The attackers had emptied two magazines of SMGs,” police officer Jaffar added.

“This could be a case of tribal dispute or old enmity,” said Jaffar, adding that investigations are underway. Police will soon record the statement of the parents and lodge an FIR.
