Pakistan Kabaddi team eying to topple India

Pakistan, the world number two kabaddi team, is hoping to overcome top ranked India in Asian Games.

KARACHI: Pakistan, the world number two kabaddi team, is hoping to overcome top ranked India in the Asian Games hoping to clinch a gold in the quadrennial event scheduled in China next month.

Pakistan lost the final to India in the 2006 Doha Games but this time the team is optimistic. “We’re preparing well and all the players are eager to give their best against all teams especially against India and I think we have the potential to beat them,” Secretary Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Mohammad Sarwar told The Express Tribune. “The players are undergoing intensive training and physical exercises.”

Pakistan have already announced their 14-man squad for the Games while the training camp is underway at the Pakistan Sports Complex. Army’s Nasir Ali will lead the side while Wajid Ali of Navy would serve as the vice-captain. After the Asian Games the kabaddi team would leave for Beach Asian Games to be held in Muscat in December.
