Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has approved a summary to increase the support price of wheat from Rs1,200 to Rs1,250 per 40 kilogrammes.
According to the spokesperson for the CM House, the increase will benefit the growers and will also discourage the smuggling of wheat. Meanwhile, the minister for food, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, has suspended the Shikarpur district food controller, Fazal Bhangwar, for not opening a procurement centre within the specified time.
Dahar said he will continue to take action against negligent and corrupt officers. The minister added that his department has taken measures to discourage smuggling of wheat. The minister admitted that some ‘black sheep’ of the department were also involved in the illegal movement of wheat to other provinces and countries.
