He replaces Shaukatullah Khan who, according to sources, had submitted his resignation from the post to President Mamnoon Hussian on April 8. Khan was appointed by former president Asif Ali Zardari on February 9, last year.
PML-N Provincial General Secretary Rahmat Salam Khattak had earlier revealed that Abbasi, who was also leader of the opposition in the provincial assembly, had stepped down as MPA.
PML-N Central Secretary General Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Major (retd) Amir, who was part of the first government peace talks committee, were also in the running for the post.

Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan is a good choice to become Governor KPK. He is a qualified lawyer and a principled man. Till late he remained Leader of the Opposition in KPK Assembly but never created hurdles for the ruling PTI and continued to give it a "chance" but never indulged in horse trading.
Yes, Sardar belongs to one of the tribes from FATA, knows all the ins and outs of FATA, is fully aware of the needs of the people of FATA, and above all Pakhtunkhwa was thriving of progress and peace when he was in power once! KP, Sind and Baluchistan are the colonies of Punjab, democracy and people's say is just a joke in Pakistan! Mr. PM, keep wishing for peace with the attitude you have towards non-Punjab parts of the country.

It is not a bad decision at all. Also no one from Hazara division was in the top brass of KP at all and this decision will end the Hazara region alienation within the KP government.
Thanks to see him in the governor house. we the people of KPK are tired of PTI political atrocities and seeing hope in Sardar to keep things in order.
