PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) senior leader Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi will be sworn in as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s new governor on Thursday. He will replace Engineer Shaukatullah who, according to sources, has submitted his resignation to President Mamnoon Hussian.

“Abbasi will take oath on Thursday at 11 am at the Governor House, Peshawar,” the PML-N provincial general secretary, Rahmat Salam Khattak, told The Express Tribune on Tuesday.

He said Sardar Mehtab Abbasi, who is also leader of the opposition in the provincial assembly, has stepped down as MPA.  “The party will hold a meeting in the coming days to discuss PML-N’s parliamentary activities after Abbasi’s resignation,” he added.

In reply to a question, Khattak said Abbasi was the right choice for the governor’s slot, keeping in view his administrative abilities.
