A notable omission, Afridi was not selected by any of the six franchises part of the league.
Known for his explosive batting style, and lack of consistency, Afridi is ranked fifth in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings for all-rounders and ninth in rankings for bowlers in the T20 format.
Not all Pakistani players were unsuccessful though. According to ESPNcricinfo, Saeed Ajmal, Sohail Tanvir, Mohammad Hafeez, Ahmed Shehzad, Nasir Jamshed, Imran Nazir and Shoaib Malik have all made the cut.
The six franchises of the tournament, which starts on July 5, are Antigua Hawksbills, Barbados Tridents, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Lucia Zouks and T&T Red Steel.

@Doosra: he will do one best innings and will win the match from the opposition as in asia cup,what he do with ashwin.his age is allowing him to perform,win the match and he cant cement his place in the team bcz of his matches stats and his age.
@Naresh: just watch and see which cricketers you gonna see,say to your boards just arrange a short tour to india u will see that what will Pakistan team do with the indian team,
the guys talking about,Malik just watch his performance 2 or 3 years back what he has done in the domestic and international circuit.he will be shame for his team.just don't go more further back watch his performance in big bash and recently in t20s.he is placed in the Pakistani team just because of his political background nothing more.
Its so rediculous we all know that Afridi is the best limited overs cricketer.its so shocking that Afridi is not selected.i think they should watch over there decision

Afridi, provides a one time out of sorts performance and the Pakistani's are ready to make him a World Champion. The man is poison on any team. Besides being a monumentally below par performer he off all things is not a team player with a mercurial temperament who is in it for himself only. You can't win with such neurotic self centered players. Brutus personified!

@Sam: Once permitted to play in India they tend to queue up to get here, sure some of our cricket is corrupt...but it's funny coming from a Pakistani..where it's not only corrupt, full of nepotism and fatal for visiting teams.

I remember last year when the league was held, Afridi declined the offer to play in CPL due to small pay, may this has something to do with his omission this year.

They all the know the quality and utility of this low quality cricketer. Only in Pakistan you will see players like Afridi, Malik and Kamran playing in the national team.

The franchises select the players on the basis of performances and not on reputations. Afridi is history.
