Hit and run: Militants attack container in Jamrud

Militants later opened fire which continued till khasadars FC officials retaliated, causing militants to flee.

JAMRUD: A container carrying goods under the Pak-Afghan Transit Trade was partially damaged when unidentified militants fired a rocket and shot at it in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency on Wednesday. Ali Sher, an official of the political administration in Jamrud, said at around 10:30am militants travelling in a car approached a container en route to Afghanistan near the Bigyari check post and fired a rocket which hit the vehicle and partially damaged it. They later opened fire at the vehicle which continued till khasadars and Frontier Corps officials reached the spot and retaliated, causing the militants to flee. The official added no human loss was reported and the container was safely escorted towards the Torkham border crossing. He said a case had been filed against unidentified militants and investigations are under way.
