KARACHI: A Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) squad recovered 14 acres belonging to the University of Karachi (KU) in Chakra Goth, Korangi, after a raid against the land mafia on Wednesday. The anti-encroachment team members were shot at by unidentified men, who also fired at inspector Bilal, who was accompanying the team, and hit his hand. The taskforce’s senior director, Bilal Manzar, said the land mafia had occupied the land allocated to KU and had built several houses on it. The residents were issued notices a week before the demolition, he added. The police also arrested an estate agent who was involved in selling plots through fake documents. Manzar added that this land will be used to establish the Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Shaheed university and law college.
