Citizen responsibility: Bomb planted on rail track dismantled

Rajanpur police received information about a bomb planted on a railway track and dismantled it.

MULTAN: Rajanpur police on Tuesday received information about a bomb planted on a railway track and dismantled it. A resident of Randaan village called the police and said he had seen suspicious people working on a rail track near his village. He said they had tools and had been tampering with the track late at night for several hours. Police said intelligence sources had revealed that five people had been involved in planting the bomb. They said they had chased the terrorists to the Tribal Areas. There was exchange of an fire, but they had managed to flee, they said. The bomb was dismantled and police launched a cleanup operation along the railway track in the district. ASP Shabeer Ahmed told The Express Tribune that they had searched 100 kilometres of the rail track from Rojhan to Shah Waali. He said they had not found explosives anywhere else. DPO Zahid Mehmood Gondal thanked the citizen for his timely phone call to the police.
