Fake money: Case sought against bank employees
Petitioner claims they threatened him and refused to replace counterfeit Rs1,000 note that he got from an ATM.
LAHORE:
An additional district and sessions judge sought comments on Monday from the Iqbal Town SHO on a petition seeking to register a case against the manager and operations manager of The Bank of Punjab. The petitioner claimed that they had threatened him and refused to replace a counterfeit Rs1,000 note, that he got from an ATM. Petitioner Abdul Jalil Younas said that a few days ago he had gone to the bank’s ATM, located at Kareem Block in Allama Iqbal Town, and withdrawn Rs4,000. The next day, he gave a Rs1,000 note to a shopkeeper who told him that the note was a fake. Younas said that when he told the manager and operations manager at the bank about the forged note, they threatened him with dire consequences. They also directed the security guards to throw him out of the bank. Younas said he had approached the police, but the SHO had refused to register his complaint. He asked the court to direct the SHO to entertain his complaint.
