Blind murder: Student ‘accidentally’ shot by friends
Victim was a cop’s son.
ISLAMABAD:
Two men arrested for allegedly murdering a mutual friend were sent on a two-day physical remand, according to the police. Two unidentified suspects have still not been tracked down.
They are accused of colluding to murder 20-year-old university student Obaid Sarfaraz, whose body was found on Tuesday, buried at a Tarnol farmhouse belonging to the family of one of the arrested men.
Sarfaraz had been missing two days prior to the discovery of his body and his father, an Islamabad Police constable, had reported him missing.
On Thursday, a group of students from Sarfaraz’s university students staged a demonstration outside Margalla Police Station, where the murder case is registered, to demand speedy justice. Station House Officer Khalid Awan said the police were already diligently working the case because the deceased is a cop’s son. He said they have yet to determine the motive, but they have gotten the two suspects on a two-day physical remand, which ends on Friday.
According to police, the father had suspected his son’s two friends, one of whom he had gone to meet at the farmhouse on Sunday, had kidnapped Sarfaraz.
The Police arrested the two men and during interrogation, they claimed that Sarfarazhad been shot accidentally, after which they buried his body at the farm.
The bullet that killed Sarfaraz was fired from the gun of a guard employed by the same boy whose family owns the farmhouse, police said.
