Marriage Ordinance: ‘Ensure enforcement of wedding rules’

Chief secretary says DCOs should ensure serving of one dish and adherence to the 10 pm curfew.

LAHORE: Chief Secretary Naveed Akram Cheema on Monday directed DCOs in the province to ensure strict enforcement of the Marriage Ordinance. He said the DCOs should ensure serving of one dish and adherence to the 10 pm curfew. He issued these instructions on the reports regarding violation of the one dish rule in some districts.  He also sought a report from DCOs of the crackdown against the violators of the ordinance in the last one week.  According to reports, 19 cases were registered for violation of the one-dish rule and the 10pm curfew; three cases were registered in Sialkot, two each in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Jhang and one each in Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Chiniot, Layyah, Sheikhupura, Sargodha, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and Vehari.
