KARACHI:

The Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) participated at the 17th Annual Conference of Association of Futures Markets (AFM) held in Bali, Indonesia in February. PMEX had joined AFM as Associate Member in 2012.

However, this was the first time PMEX attended the event as a full member. Attaining the status of a full member will not only allow PMEX to play a proactive role in the formulation of policies of the association but also elect and be elected to the bodies. PMEX was represented by Ejaz Ali Shah, managing director, and Hassan Mehmood, head of research and product development. Roundtable discussions on topic such as opportunities and challenges surrounding regional exchange partnerships and role of smaller domestic exchanges in increasing competition of larger exchanges were held.
