Medical registration: 2,200 appear for test

Test held with the collaboration of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar and National Testing Services Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: As many as 2,200 foreign-qualified Pakistani MBBS and dentistry students appeared in a test conducted by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) here. According to a PMDC spokesperson, the medical students, who had acquired degrees from foreign medical institutions, appeared in the test so they can be registered to practice medicine in Pakistan. The test was held with the collaboration of Khyber Medical University, Peshawar and National Testing Services Pakistan. The graduates have obtained degrees from several countries including Russia, China, Iran, Bangladesh and Nepal. Under PMDC regulations, these graduates had to pass three stages of NEB examinations. Some 2,200 appeared in the basic theory paper today, while clinical papers and viva voce would be held later.
