Cleaning up: Law enforcers arrest 106 suspects in last 24 hours

Law enforcers claim to have arrested 106 alleged criminals during targeted raids in different areas of the city on Friday night.


According to the Rangers spokesperson, the paramilitary force conducted targeted raids in different parts of Lyari, Sharifabad, Jumma Goth, Pathan Colony, Pareshan Chowk, Gulshan-e-Zia and Urdu Bazaar and arrested14 alleged criminals. The suspects included target killers, extortionists and drug-peddlers, he added.

The official revealed that weapons of various calibres, including a small machine gun, four improvised explosive devices, 50 kilogrammes of C4 explosives, detonators, detonating chord, ball bearings and ball crackers have been recovered.

Police claim to have arrested three alleged criminals, identified as Arif, Muhammad Naeem and Ismail, near Empress Market. Three TT pistols and two mobile phoes were seized from their possession. Meanwhile, the Sindh Police claim to have arrested 88 alleged criminals in 83 raids during the last 24 hours. According to a statement issued by the Sindh Police, 18 guns, three hand grenades along with narcotics were seized from the suspects' possession.

Separately, unidentified men shot and killed 35-year-old Salman on Nishtar Road, within the limits of the Soldier Bazaar police station. According to officials, two armed assailants on a motorcycle shot the victim and fled.

SHO Sohail said that the victim tried to resist the dacoits' bid to snatch his motorcycle, due to which they shot him dead.
