Energy solutions: Ministry pursuing policy to mitigate crisis

50 provisional licences were issued for the exploration of indigenous hydrocarbon resources.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources is effectively pursuing policies to explore indigenous hydrocarbon resources for mitigating energy crisis, achieving success to issue 50 provisional licences in this regard.


“Such efforts will augment the country’s petroleum products supplies manifold, while presently the oil production has crossed 90,000 barrels per day,” said an official of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources.


The official said credit goes to the current officials of the ministry who worked tirelessly to evolve consensus among the provinces for finalising the awarding process.


The official added the entire process dragged on for several years, especially regarding the model concession agreement and the petroleum rules formulated under the 18th Amendment.
