KARACHI:

A key member of the MQM’s fact-finding committee was gunned down Tuesday evening in Federal B Area within the limits of Samanabad police station.

Mushtaq Ahmed, 40, was standing at a shop when armed motorcyclists shot him. “After the first inning of the Pakistan-Bangladesh cricket match, Mushtaq left his house for a cigarette,” said his friend Umair. “The motorcyclists were waiting near his home and opened fire as he stood at the shop.”

Ahmed was currently associated with the MQM as the in-charge of the fact-finding committee. Earlier, he had been associated with the party as the MQM’s in-charge for Federal B Area sector and a member of the MQM’s North Nazimabad sector.

MQM chief Altaf Hussain condemned the killing of Mushtaq Ahmed. While talking to the Rabita Committee, Altaf said, “It seems that a group of target and professional killers has been given the task to kill senior workers of the MQM. What is shocking and surprising is how easily the criminals are getting away with this.”
