KARACHI: A man identified by the name of Zeeshanuddin was killed in Karachi on Thursday after a Sindh Rangers official allegedly shot him assuming he was a kidnapper, Express News reported.

The man was reportedly having a heated argument with his wife in the street which later turned physical. The security officer – thinking the man was trying to kidnap the woman – fired at him. The wife was also injured in the firing incident.

The incident took place near the Nagan Chowrangi area of the city.

The man was taken to a hospital for medical assistance but succumbed to his injuries.

DIG West Javed Odho said the matter will be investigated according to the law.

Zeeshanuddin's wife told Express News later on that her husband was physically abusing her on the street and when she cried for help, no one responded, and that is when the Rangers official fired at him.

Following the day’s events, the New Karachi police registered an FIR based on the complained filed by the victim's wife.

Police then proceeded to arrested Ranger Rahimullah for allegedly killing Zeeshan at Nagan Chowrangi.

The ranger could have investigated and tried resolving the matter without using any weapon. Killing an unarmed person is unacceptable.

Amir | 10 years ago | Reply The problem is that the Rangers till now didnot catch any mobile snathers. Here the Rangers are deputed since 25 years and still cannot distinguish between the innocent people and criminals. If there is any real Mobile snathing case and you just complain to Rangers then they didnot take any action and replying that "WE DONOT HAVE ORDER". This is more stupidity by saying that he is doing his own duty. It means that if there is a argument between shopkeeper and customer, teacher & student, Son and father dispute then Rangers are allowed to kill them?
