Corporate Initiative Employers’ Fair 2014: Recruiters look for Pakistani students at UK campuses
There are more than 10,000 Pakistani students studying in the UK currently, says Pakistan High Commissioner for UK.
ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan High Commissioner for UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan has lauded the efforts of British Council and UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) for organising ‘Corporate Initiative Employers’ Fair 2014.
He was speaking at a dinner hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in London, to welcome a delegation comprising human resource and recruitment managers from leading companies in Pakistan.
He said: “There are more than 10,000 Pakistani students studying in the UK currently. This large number of talented and accomplished youth will be anxious to join their working lives and put their first foot on the ladder of their professional life.”
He said it was extremely important for Pakistan government to ensure that the youth were encouraged into jobs and given opportunities to join the economic cycle of Pakistan.
“Pakistan’s burgeoning youth population needs to be equipped with the skills and education to be employable,” he said.
Hasan said by 2015, UK’s development assistance aimed to get over four million more children into schools, recruit and train 90,000 new teachers, provide more than six million textbook sets and construct or rebuild more than 43,000 classrooms.
“This gesture of friendship for Pakistan from the British government and people is remarkable. Now the Employers Initiative goes one step ahead on offering to get Pakistan’s crème de la crème, British educated youth into work,” he added.
The `employers’ initiative’ entails visiting campuses across UK to tap talent among Pakistani students studying in the British universities. It is supported by the British Council and UK Trade and Investment.
