A local court Thursday directed the civic authorities to submit schedule of compensation payment to the affected people of two sectors next week.
Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui directed the land and finance directors of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to appear before the court along with payment schedule on February 27.
The judge issued the directives on a contempt petition filed by over 700 affected people whose land were acquired by the CDA for developing sectors I-17 and H-16 in 2009 but have not yet been given compensation.
The authority had acquired 16,500 kanals and announced an award of Rs830,000 per kanal for the residents of eight villages - Noon, Bhadhana Kalan, Jhangi Syedan, Bajnial, Kot Kolian, Lakho, Nehrala and Sheikhpur.
The petitioner’s counsel Malik Tariq maintained that the affected people were still waiting for the compensation as promised by the civic agency.
