Five women and five children of the same family lost their lives as the Shehzore truck they were travelling in plunged into the Lyari River within the limits of PIB Colony police station of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Wednesday evening.
Rescue organisations approached at the site and recovered the bodies and the injured. Following the rescue operation, seven bodies and the injured were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi where three of the injured succumbed to their injuries.
According to MLO Aftab Channar, the five women were aged between 20 to 40 years. The five children were aged between two to four years.
According to the hospital officials, the occupants of the vehicle were relatives and were going to Lea Market from where they had to travel to Quetta.
SHO Asif Munawar said that the police was currently searching for the driver.
