Alternative sources: Hydel generation increases, reveals NTDC data

Hydel generation has increased significantly due to a higher water discharge from Tarbela and Mangla dams which stood at 3,315 megawatt (MW).


According to data released by the National Transmission and Dispatch Company Limited (NTDC), hydel generation stood at 3,315MW, thermal at 1,265MW and Independent Power Producers (IPPs) at 4,720MW.


Power shortfall also eased to 1,900MW as total generation was recorded as 9,300MW against a demand of 11,200MW.


ROUSCH power plant has also started supplying 425MW to the national grid after restoration of gas supply to the plant.


Meanwhile, the Indus River System Authority (IRSA) released 103,300 cusecs of water for various rim stations with inflow of 48,057.


According to data released by the IRSA, water level in the Indus River at Tarbela Dam was 1,449.40 feet, which was 71.40 higher than its dead level of 1,378 feet.
