Breakthrough? Alleged suspects linked to Dhabeji railway blast apprehended

A Rangers spokesperson claimed that 15 suspects were apprehended.

KARACHI: Law enforcers on Saturday claimed they had apprehended more than two dozen suspects in separate raids in the metropolis on Saturday. Those detained included 15 suspects believed to be linked to the railway track blast near Dhabeji on February 4.

Rangers officials said that a targeted raid was conducted in Gohram Bugti Goth, Landhi, on a tip-off regarding the presence of suspects allegedly involved in the railway track blast. A Rangers spokesperson claimed that 15 suspects were apprehended. The identities of the suspects were not disclosed.

Separately, Rangers personnel also conducted targeted raids in Hassan Noman Colony, Khyber Chowk, Sindhi Hotel, Chakra Goth, Khokhrapar, Chakiwara, Kalri and Baghdadi and carried out snap checking at Firdous Morr, Shah Faisal Colony, Natha Khan Goth and Kharadar areas. Nine suspects were apprehended in the raids while the personnel claimed to have seized weapons from their possession.

Meanwhile, at least four alleged extortionists were arrested during a joint raid conducted by the police and Citizens Police Liaison Committee in Shafiq Colony, FB Area. Police officials said that the suspects had demanded Rs2million in extortion, adding that weapons and SIM cards were also seized from their possession. The identities of the suspects were not disclosed.
