ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Ministry for Population has said it aims to make both Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik ambassadors of health and population control in Pakistan.
The Minister for Population Firdaus Ashiq Awan spoke to the media as she was leaving for India on an invitation by her Indian counterpart.
Firdaus told the media that she will take gifts and a 'crown of honour' from the people of Sialkot for Sania. She said the Indian minister for population welfare Ghulam Husain Azad had invited her to India.
Firdaus said she is also scheduled to meet other Indian government officials. The Population Minister said Sania and Shoaib could bring a change in Pakistan by becoming a symbol of health and population welfare and control.
She said India and Pakistan face similar challenges in terms of social issues and the newly wed couple could help us improve the situation on both sides.
