HYDERABAD: Sindh University’s (SU) vice-chancellor, Nazir Mughal, received another brief extension in service from the Sindh High Court on Thursday. Mughal, who retired after completing his second tenure in office on January 8, has challenged the Sindh government against the appointment of a new VC for the SU. The government, through an advertisement on October 31, 2013, had announced a vacancy for the SU VC. A search committee also subsequently received applications for the post but interviews have not been held so far. For his part, Mughal claimed that the provincial governor gave him an extension in service in August last year. The extension was granted for two years starting from this January, he said. The hearing of his case on Thursday could not proceed due to a backlog of cases. The court will hear the case on February 11.
