The Sindh High Court (SHC) dismissed on Tuesday a petition filed by the Mohajir Qaumi Movement - Haqiqi chief Afaq Ahmed seeking direction for the government to allow his party freedom to conduct political activities.
In his plea, Afaq had claimed that his party was facing difficulties in carrying out political activities in the city. His lawyer, however, was absent on Tuesday. CJ Baqar observed that, “There is no intimation. In fact no one has been appearing for the petitioner since the last two dates.” Dismissing the plea along with pending applications, the bench further observed, “The petitioner has also not paid cost or supplied copies for the issuance of the notice, despite the fact that, on the last date, one week’s time was granted to do the needful.”

Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, who headed the bench, dismissed the plea while taking notice of the absence of Ahmed’s lawyer for the third consecutive time.
