Karachi operation: Rangers arrest 22 suspects during Orangi Town raid

Earlier today, two bodies were found near Lasbela Pul in the city. The victims have not been identified as yet.

KARACHI:
Rangers arrested 22 people, including six members of banned outfits, during a raid in Orangi Town in Karachi, Express News reported on Saturday.

A Rangers spokesperson told the media that 1000 troops, including female officers, have been involved in the targeted operations.

The operation will continue despite attacks on security personnel and the troops are ready to “restore the city of lights”, he added.

Weapons seized during various raids in the city, including Klashnikovs, pistols and rifles, were shown to the media as well.

In a separate incident, two bodies were found near Lasbela Pul in the city. The victims have not been identified as yet.


It was reported that the hands and feet of the deceased were tied.

Previous incidents

Four tortured bodies were recovered on January 22 from Gulshan-e-Hadeed neighbourhood of Karachi.

The bodies were dumped in bushes in the area and were spotted by passersby who then informed the police. Police had said the victims were tortured and shot dead.

Earlier on January 20, three bullet-riddled bodies that also bore torture marks were found near Baba Wilayat Shah mazaar in the city.

Sub-inspector Ikhlak Ahmed had said that the marks on the bodies indicated that the three people were kidnapped and tortured before they were killed.
